How to make Rose Bow & Rose Arrow with Pipe Cleaners | DIY Tutorial

Part 1 — Making the Roses

The rose is the centerpiece of this project. In this section, we’ll first create the petals, then assemble them into full blooming roses.

  • light pink/true red small roses
  • 4 light pink/true red middle roses
  • 1 dark pink/wine red middle rose
  • 3 light pink/true red big roses.

Step 1.1 — Making the Petals

Start by shaping the petals included in your kit. Gently curve the edges to create a soft blooming effect. Arrange the petals by size before moving on to assembly.

1.1.1 Light Pink / True Red

1.1.2 Dark Pink / Wine Red

  • No.1 Petals × 1

  • No.2 Petals × 3

  • No.3 Petals × 5

Step 1.2 — Making the Petals

No.1 Petal Tutorial

Use half of a pipe cleaner.
Twist 3 peanut-shaped loops together as one group to create a No.1 petal.

See step-by-step video(00:00:20)

No.2 Petal Tutorial

Use 1/3 of a pipe cleaner.
Twist 1 peanut-shaped loop and pass through it.

See step-by-step video (00:00:38)

No.3 Petal Tutorial

Use half of a pipe cleaner.
Bend from the middle and twist 1 peanut-shaped loop, then pass the two ends trough the hole, and tighten.

See step-by-step video (00:00:26)

No.4 & No.5 Petal Tutorial

Use 1 pipe cleaner per petal.

The making process for No.4 petals and No.5 petals is the same. The only difference is that some No.4 petals are made slightly smaller than No.5 petals.

See step-by-step video (00:00:54)

Step 1.3 — assembling the roses

Start assembling the rose from the center using the smallest petals first.
Gradually glue the larger petals around the outside layer by layer to create a natural blooming shape.

Small Rose

  • No.1 Petals × 1
  • No.2 Petals × 5

Medium Rose

  • No.1 Petals × 1
  • No.2 Petals × 3
  • No.3 Petals × 5

Large Rose

  • No.3 Petals × 3
  • No.4 Petals × 4
  • No.5 Petals × 5

Part 2 — Making the Mandala Flowers

The mandala flowers add texture and fantasy details to the final piece. Use careful layering and even shaping to keep the flower symmetrical and full.

See step-by-step video (00:00:13)

Step 1

Cut the dark pink or wine red pipe cleaner in half
(depending on whether you purchased the Dark Cupid or Pink Cupid version)

Step 2

Fold 3 half pipe cleaners inward at the center.
Use another pipe cleaner to wrap through the folded center and twist tightly.

Pull both ends downward, then twist the bottom tightly to secure the shape.

One mandala flower petal is now complete.

You will need to make 5 petals in total for one mandala flower.

Step 3

Take out the flower stamens included in the DIY kit and fold them in half.

Glue the 5 mandala flower petals evenly around the stamens.

Your mandala flower is now complete.

Part 3 — Making the Thorns & Leaves

Create the leaves and thorn vines that give the piece its dramatic and organic look. Shape each leaf carefully and vary the angles slightly for a more natural composition.

3.1 Make the Thorn

3.2 Make the Leaves

3.2.1 Large Leaves

See step-by-step video (00:00:54)

The large leaves are made using the same method as the No.4 and No.5 petals.

The only difference is that the large leaves are made using white or black pipe cleaners, matching the color of your bow and arrow.

Make approximately 35 large leaves

3.2.2 Small Leaves

Make approximately 20 small leaves.

3.3 Make the Bow

3.4 Make the Arrow

Take out 3 stems from our DIY kit,  and glue them together. Do NOT glue the top completely closed.
About 3–4cm (1.5-2 inch) from the top, bend the two outer stems downward to create the shape of an arrowhead. Then wrap the arrowhead tightly using a white/black pipe cleaner.

When wrapping the arrowhead, make sure to use plenty of hot glue for extra reinforcement, otherwise the inner stems may become visible.

Part 4 — Main Assembly

Now assemble all completed flowers, leaves, and thorn elements together. Start with the main roses, then add supporting flowers and greenery around them.

Your handmade piece is now complete ✨
